Analogy of the homeless man

A married couple passed by a homeless person quite frequently. One evening the couple decided that since they could combine their children in one bedroom and allow the homeless person to stay with them until he got back up on his feet. Weeks later the homeless man showed signs of improvement. He got along so well with the family that he was accepted as family.

A few months in time the homeless person felt so comfortable, that he even began to correct the couples children. It felt awkward for the couple, but they believed in patience and hoped it was just temporary.

One day the young couple had a disagreement. Unfortunately the wife was incorrect. The husband loved his wife very very much and embraced her. It was still a touchy situation.

Before long the homeless person began to correct the wife and condemn the husband for his tolerance.

ARE YOU FEELING THIS YET?

I want you to see that this is you and I.

God invited us into his home, because we were homeless. We begin to tell God how to raise his children. We begin to tell God how to correct his wife(church).

We need to allow God to embrace his people and show them grace, mercy, and love.

Luke 6:37
